Date! Changes at the Ziegler The Matilda Ziegler Magazine for the Blind has ended publication of its Braille, cassette, large print and diskette versions as of the November 2009 issue. The magazine continues to be available via e-mail and on-line at www.matildaziegler.com. The Ziegler is now using an RSS feed, Twitter and Facebook. Please also note the change of e-mail address, which is now: editor@matildaziegler.com Newsletter The Children's Services Division of BESB publishes a parent newsletter twice a year. Although they also offer two parent education events yearly, they realize some parents have difficulty attending. The newsletter is a way of reaching everyone with information about BESB programs, upcoming events, and contact information for BESB staff and other parents. To view all the newsletters that have been published, go to http://www.ct.gov/besb. You will find the newsletters under the heading for Children's Services. If you have any questions call the Children's Services Supervisor, Jeanette Haines, at 800-842-4510, or 860-602-4171. Danbury Chapter Afghan Raffle The Danbury Chapter of the NFB of CT is raffling off a hand-crocheted afghan, made with a rainbow of colors so it goes anywhere. The velvety soft comforter measures five feet by five feet, and is perfect for snuggling up to while watching television or reading. Chances are $2 each, or 6 for $10. Call or e-mail Chris Kuell for more info 203-730-8884, ckuell@comcast.net.
YouTube The NFB of Georgia has been creating some really great videos, which they are placing on YouTube. One video in particular is of interest: it shows an individual who uses NFB-NEWSLINE® and portrays ways in which he benefits from using the service, such as learning about stock market fluctuations as well as scores and commentary about his favorite sports teams. It is very well done and highly recommended; the Web site address is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vygr3SuF6E. Looking to share a ride, or get rewards for taking public transportation? Check out www.nuride.com, an organization dedicated to making the world greener through promoting ride sharing and public transportation options. 2010 Writing Contest The NFB of CT is holding their second annual writing contest.
