The National Federation of the Blind
of Connecticut
Note From The Editor

The Federationist in Connecticut has taken on a slightly different format. Alfonse DeLucia suggested a gossip column, but we weren't sure how you'd all feel if we started dishing out the dirt. Instead, we've added a mix of this and a splash of that. Chris Kuell offers up a satirical fiction with "Hook In Her Head: The Interview." It is a realistic fiction we can all relate with, and Chris humorously does what many of us have probably thought of doing. As an organization, we don't recommend following the main character's behavior, but the work is fiction and meant to entertain, not instruct. I would like to thank Chris, as well as Alfonse DeLucia, Matt Lyles, Anne Marie Johnson, and Rich McGaffin for their contributions. Without their submissions, The Federationist wouldn't be possible. I appreciate the time and dedication they took with composing their contributions. Special thanks goes out to The New London Day for granting permission to reprint "A Vision of Success",and to The New Haven Register for permission to reprint "Dodd to Resubmit Bill to Aid Visually Impaired". Lastly, I would like to extend my appreciation to Lucia and Diane at the Outreach Office for the extra effort they put in with assisting in the production of this publication.

Submissions for The Federationist and upcoming events should be sent via email to: swesthaver@earthlink.net. Please place: "Federationist" in the subject line. For those of you not online, send contributions via snail mail to the attention of The Federationist, The National Federation of the Blind of Connecticut, 580 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, Connecticut 06108. The next deadline for submissions is June 1, 2003. Until then, this is The Federationist in Connecticut.
