Upcoming 2006 National Convention
Join Federationists from all over the nation at the National Federation of the Blind Convention!

Dates: Saturday, July 1 through Friday, July 7, 2006
Pre-convention seminars for parents of blind children and other groups: July 1, 2006. Division and national committee meetings: July 2-3, 2006. General sessions: July 4 through 7, 2006.
Three thousand five hundred people from all fifty states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and numerous foreign countries are expected to attend. Most of those attending will be blind.

NFB-Newsline® is available in Connecticut!

Connecticut Chapter Meeting Information
New Chapter!
Shoreline Chapter:
Leslie Fairall, (203)931-0723, fairall@ns.shellworld.net. Shoreline meetings are held every second Saturday of the month at 1:00 PM at the First Congregational Church in Branford.

Southern Connecticut Chapter: Joyce Kane, (203)378-8928, blindhands@aol.com. Southern Connecticut meetings are held every third Saturday of the month at 2 PM at the Fowler Memorial Building

Bristol Area: Anyone interested in attending meetings in the Bristol area should contact Gary Allen at (860) 589-2241.

Danbury Area Chapter: Melvin Friedman, (203) 746-5985, mhfriedman@sbcglobal.com. Danbury meetings are held every second Sunday at 2:00 PM at Danbury Commons, 51 Main Street, Danbury.

Greater Hartford Chapter: Carolyn Dodd, (860) 236-8072. Hartford meetings are held every third Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Capitol Community College, Conference Room 211, 950 Main Street, Hartford.

Stamford Area Chapter: John Padilla, (203)325-4695. Stamford meetings are held every second Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Stamford Hospital, Shelburne & West Broad, Stamford.

Volunteer Readers
The community outreach office of the National Federation of the Blind of Connecticut has compiled a list of volunteer readers throughout the state. Through public service announcements on radio and television, many people have called our office and have offered their time to read to blind people. Any blind person who is in need of a reader for any purpose, call our office at (860) 289-1971


Scholarships Available
Scholarships are available for legally blind individuals college full-time. Call the outreach office for an application. (860) 289-1971.
