Nancy G. Johnston, age 84 of Danbury, began her eternal journey with her family by her side at Danbury Hospital Wednesday, April 9, 2008. She was the wife of the late George L. Johnston Jr. She was born June 3, 1923 in Danbury, daughter of the late Joseph and Stella (Hotelling) McDonnell. Nancy graduated Bethel High School valedictorian, Class of 1941, as well as a member of the National Honor Society. She held many offices with the National Federation of the Blind of Danbury, including president and treasurer. She married George L. Johnston Jr., June 17, 1950 and moved to Danbury from Bethel. She was employed by Chance Vought during World War II, Desk Accessories of Bethel, Bragg Motor Sales and Danbury Kingswood Kitchens of Danbury. She was a member of St. Peter Church as well as their Ladies Guild, as well as the Grange. She enjoyed bingo, crossword puzzles, family time, fairs, animals and lively conversation. She cherished her friends and loved to write poems about and for them. Her sense of humor will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by her daughters, Susan J. Johnston of Waterbury and Joanne M. Johnston of New Milford and her grandson, Christopher Lawrence Johnston of New Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Peter Church Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends will be received in the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Contributions in Nancy's memory may be made to Animals for Life Inc., P.O.
