Long Time Federationist Ben Snow

Benton (Ben) Snow, 81, a resident at the McLean nursing home in Simsbury and formerly of Hartford, died Monday (June 1, 2009). Born in Buffalo, NY and raised in Bridgeport, he was the son of William and Bertha (Finkle) Snow. He attended Bassic High School in Bridgeport and Bridgeport College and NYU, majoring in vocational rehabilitation. He was a lifelong member of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) and was a past treasurer and local president. He operated vending equipment in New Haven and Waterbury in conjunction with B.E.S.B. He was active in the Boy Scouts for many years and was a Master in the Masons. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Snow and was predeceased by his life-long beloved friend, Mary Brunoli. He also leaves dear friends, Annette and Albert Brunoli of New Hartford and many cousins. A funeral will be graveside on Thursday, June 4, at 1 p.m. with Rabbi Howard Herman officiating at the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation Cemetery in Avon (heading west on Rt. 44, turn right onto Mountain View Drive, the cemetery will be on the right). In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the NFB, 477 Ct. Blvd., Suite 217, East Hartford, 06108. The family expresses a heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the McLean for their extraordinary care. Funeral arrangements provided by Hebrew Funeral Association.
